5 Current Shows to Watch

Hello Enthusiasts,

While I don't really like to rate movies and TV shows, I do like making suggestions for things to watch. So, I have included below a list of not the very best shows, but 5 ongoing shows that I can suggest you watch. As a head's up, I live on Netflix, so you'll see some exclusives here.

1. Stranger Things

This is a Netflix-exclusive show set in the 1980's. It centers around a group of traditionally "geek" kids, a down on his luck cop, a psychic experiment child, and a terrifying monster. The acting in this show is excellent, and the story has a real 80's frel to it. There's great attention to detail and stunning visuals, a real treat. There's 8 episodes in season one, but it's already been renewed for a second season.

2. Rick and Morty

This cartoon centers around Rick, a brilliant drunken scientist who does whatever he wants, and his timid grandson, Morty. Together they go on all sorts of adventures through space and time, and generally cause some real chaos. The show is clever, funny, and can really be depressing at times. I've heard several people say that this isn't just the best cartoon on TV, but one of the best shows on TV. Definitely worth a watch

3. The Netflix Marvel shows

Okay, I am cheating a little with this one, as these are three different shows, but they are set to merge into one when The Defenders comes out. These shows are gripping, and of the collective 4 seasons, 2 seasons have really compelling villains (It's too bad the MCU can't say that 50% of their antagonists are excellent). These are not cheap cash-ins on their movie counterparts, they are legitimately good shows, though they do sometimes start off a bit slow. I strongly recommended Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage.

4. Bojack Horseman

Last Netflix exclusive, I promise, but I couldn't leave this one off the list. Bojack is actor who got big with a cheesy 90's sitcom, and didn't do much after that. He struggles with addiction, depression, anxiety, and a whole variety of other emotions that come from what can be seen as a mid-life crisis. As sad and reflective as Bojack can be, he is surrounded by a lot of fun and interesting characters, who all have their own issues as well, but nothing to the extent of what Bojack has. The show is funny, clever, and emotional all at the same time.

5. The Flash

Finally we come to The Flash. This is a CW show that follows the DC hero of the same name. It is the second show in the "Arrow-verse" (since CW's Arrow did so well at the start, the build other DC shows around it). Unlike the Marvel line up on Netflix, I don't consider all of these shows equal, and The Flash is the best one as they all move forward. You may need to watch the other shows to get all of the story since they all connect, but you're likely going to enjoy this one the most.

Do you have any current shows that you think are a must see? Leave them in the comments below!

Sincerely,

The Bored Enthusiast
